PRESS RELEASE:

“Let Me Think” is a statement that can be understood as either a demand or a plea. The declaration speaks with a sense of urgency, that here and now, we need to take a moment to concentrate…to pause…to consider what is at stake.

This exhibition is comprised of new works created by masters students from the Valand School of Fine Art in Göteborg, Sweden, and the ICA Moscow. The artists initially met in August during a retreat at the academic dacha of I. Repin near Vishny Volochok, Russia, as participants in this parallel program of the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art entitled Against Exclusion.

Together, they chose the title—Let Me Think—and the resulting exhibition is a framework structured in response to their request implied by the title. Subsequently, it can also be viewed as a think-tank of young artists and the exhibition is a continuation of their conversation between each other about how they see the world around them. The site of the exhibition is the former Soviet chocolate factory Red October.

The exhibition is organized by Valand School of Fine Art, ICA Moscow, as part of a continuing cooperation and is presented in conjunction with the 3 Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art.
